WhitePaper Leveraging B2C StrategiesThe Customer Always Knows Best

Leveraging B2C Strategies in Managed Travel Programs:
Mature corporate travel programs have begun “maxing out” savings achieved by the traditional twin pillars of procurement and policy. Now, they need to shift to a focus on doing better than policy by layering influence and enablement over their existing framework. We are firmly in the age of the consumer, where business success is defined by: helping people share information; making smart choices on the fly; and enabling people to communicate in the way they are most comfortable.

Charge aheadCharge ahead: How airlines’ moves to reduce their credit card merchant fees drive up corporate travel costs

Merchant fees have become the single-largest distribution cost for airlines, and in recent years, several factors have led air carriers to search for ways to reduce or offset that cost. Unfortunately for corporate travel buyers, any likely move that airlines may take to reduce or offset merchant fees represents an increase in travel program costs.

2011 Industry ForecastMay 2011 Update - Industry Forecast

Advito is revising its airfare-development forecast for 2011 upward for all regions and classes, for year-over-year full-year fare increases in the range of 6 percent to 13.5 percent. The cost of oil, translated into rising airfares and rapidly climbing fuel surcharges (especially for long-haul flights and economy class travel), retains its place at the forefront of buyers’ concerns. Advito predicts that high prices may lead to softening demand in the third and fourth quarters—but airlines’ cutbacks in planned capacity growth will tend to keep fares high.

Strategic Travel Program KPIs_Advito white paper 120x80.jpgStrategic Travel Program KPIs Advito White Paper

From numbers to action - Improving travel program management through strategic KPIs and meaningful savings measurements

Travel managers know good data is crucial for their work. But which data do they need? Are they combining the appropriate measurements for true performance management, building a full and actionable picture of what is going on in their travel program? And do they have the information which tells them whether the travel program is being managed in line with their organization’s overriding strategic objectives?

This white paper argues that travel managers can improve the performance of their travel programs by creating strategic key performance indicators (KPIs) which measure how successfully they are meeting corporate objectives, provides a sample set of strategic KPIs and sets forth clear guidelines for building a strategic KPI program.

Q1 2010 Update_Advito 2010 Industry Forecast 120x80.gif2010 Industry Forecast Q2 Update

Advito is pleased to present its second quarter 2010 update to the 2010 Industry Forecast, originally released in October 2009. Throughout the year, Advito’s quarterly forecast updates reassess the economic parameters on which its initial forecast was based, analyze year-overyear booking data from the previous quarter and issue revisions as appropriate.

Additionally, this quarterly update provides a high-level view into key recent industry and market developments that may have an impact on corporate travel buyers.

Into the second quarter of 2010, Advito saw a double-digit increase year over year in overall demand for corporate travel – although demand levels vary significantly across regions. This development is in line with macroeconomic and other industry data. Please note that the transactional data analyzed in this update covers the period through March (hotel) and April (air), so does not fully reflect transactional trends occurring as a result of the Icelandic volcano episode in late April. However, client data from that period indicates that the fall-off in demand due to grounded planes was temporary, with scheduled travel delayed rather than cancelled. Preliminary data through June indicates that the double-digit increase in demand is holding steady year to date. Advito therefore anticipates that the volcano disruption will not have a significant impact on our overall 2010 forecast. Please see page 18 for further discussion of the volcano and its impact on corporate travel.
